Lisa's Trip to Dutch Comic Con Sping Edition 2019
Hi Everyone! Welcome to Lisa's Exp Blog: The Convention Wire. It is very nice to see you at my blog.
My name is Lisa, I am 22 years old and I live in the North of the Netherlands.
I collect funko's and autographs from celebrities, If possible I like to combine these two.
Further hobbies are baking, crochet, writing and going to the theater, cinema, concerts, and lectures.
For this reason, I am very happy to write for Tiny Titan!
The first Convention, that I attended for my collection, was the Dutch Comic Con in March 2015. Since then, I have been to every edition and other cons. In the weekends, you can find me at events in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.
The Dutch Comic Con has taken extra security measures after the attack on the tram in Utrecht. One of the measures was that only bags and purses of very small sizes were allowed. Or transparent plastic bags.
To make matters worse, I also saw Friday on Tom Felton’s Instagram the message that he had missed his flight to Amsterdam.
How do you get, at such short notice a transparent plastic bag and a smaller wallet? And will Tom Felton be there on time?
But luckily, everything worked out except the bought reusable transparent plastic bag.
The bag smelled so badly that I spend the whole Friday trying to get rid of the smell.
Eventually, of course, there is only one solution, to use perfume and deodorant and hope for the best.
When my smelly bag and I, not only smelling like plastic but also like a little perfume shop on his own, arrived an hour for the opening at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, it is still quiet at the entrance.
I am holding my stuff in my hands because of the smell.
The person with me says if you not going to use your bag, I will put it on my head when it starts raining, so I will stay dry. The smell does not bother me.
At 9 a.m. it is becoming more and more crowded. The waiting people like to watch the dancing cosplayers.
Finally, 1 of the 3 doors opens. Obviously not the door where we were standing.
The entire row decides to go to the open door. And of course, when we were almost at the open door, the door were we original were waiting for, also opens
At the entrance, the tickets are scanned and the plastic bags searched.
Because the guests will start arriving around 10 am and my first photo shoot will be at 10:15, I decided to take a stroll through the dealer hall. I am looking for the Noble Collection magic wand of Seamus Finnigan.
Meanwhile, a few people asked me about the photo in my bag. The photo is because of the transparent bag very visible.
They want to know if the Malfoy family and Bellatrix photo from the last Harry Potter movie, are being sold and where at the con?
No, I brought this from home. And if I also will ask Jason Isaacs to sign it during FACTS? Yes, that is the plan.
Of course, you always buy more. I also bought a poster, 2 prints and a way too big to carry around on the con, Dalek. Thankfully the people I bought it from allowed me to pick it up later.
I hurry to the photo booth for my photo with Tom Felton and then on to the line for the autograph of Tom.
Katherine McNamara screams when she sees my picture, 'oh my god, you brought a Maze Runner picture, that's so awesome! 'Immediately she begins with signing and writing a nice inscription on the picture.
It was fantastic to see, the time that Sophie Skelton took for her fans. That is something I have never seen before.
Quickly I return to the photo booth for my photo with Shannen Doherty.
After, the photo shoot there is still one last autograph I need to get.
One from Benedict Wong. He is a very nice guy.
When taking a selfie he sat on the table and asked me to come to sit next to him. Normally the quests just bent over the table.
He pulled the tablecloth straight again and continued with signing.
At the end of the day, I went back to get my Dalek.
I had a great day at the Dutch comic con and it was good to see a few of my friends again.
I am already looking forward to the next con. This will be FACTS, in the beautiful city of Ghent on April 6 & 7.
